Hi everyone! Please take a moment to introduce yourself here. I'd love to know a bit about your writing background and what your ultimate goal is for 2020!
Heya Zoya. In a trying time I'm relieved to have this course to look forward to. Looking forward to getting to know my peers as well. I'm a writer just finishing up my debut book manuscript. I've been published by Huff Post, The Mighty, EurekaStreet, New Matilda, Virgin, YourTango and syndicated by Yahoo and Mamma Mia. I also served as an editor way back when for my illustrious student newspaper at Uni and more recently The Good Men Project. I have my 3,000 word piece ready to go and will set other writerly targets throughout the course Very eager. Sending love, strength and hopes of peace all around the globe today.
Hello Zoya and crew! I am hoping this course can help me get back on the proverbial horse when it comes to my writing, I had a really productive run for a good 5 or 6 years there, writing/publishing essays and articles, and a few poems scattered between. After some big life changes I gave myself a "year off" writing in 2019, which actually was really beneficial in maintaining family balance and mental health, but it's time to end that hiatus now. Trouble is I've lost my sense of purpose and drive, and am intimidated by a market that seems to be flooded with amazing writers but a shrinking pool of reputable platforms for publication. I worry a lot about taking up space.
The past six weeks have been very stressful, disjointed and distracted (we are in Braidwood) but I want to not let that set the tone for my whole year.
Hello Zoya and Co! Looking forward to the course. I feel like a complete beginner! As way of introduction: I'm finishing up a PhD so I write a lot for study and research work, but looking to move into other types of non-fiction writing and ... publishing! Have had the odd poem and op ed published in the past. A year ago I sent the first chapter of a memoir about miscarriage to Allen and Unwin and to my surprise they asked for more. But then I never heard from them again. Decided 2020 was a good year to equip myself with a few more writing (and writing admin) skills ! Talk soon !
